A beautiful sapphire and diamond ring by Hancocks, centred with a cushion shaped orangey-pink padparadscha sapphire weighing 3.81cts and corner claw set between two old mine cushion cut diamonds weighing 0.51cts and 0.57cts, of F and D colour respectively and both of VVS2 clarity set in platinum, with single cut diamond-set shoulders, all in a finely hand crafted, ornately engraved 18ct rose gold mount.

Padparadscha sapphires have a beautiful and unique colour that combines both pink and orange hues in one rare gem. Found mainly in Sri Lanka, the term Padparadscha is derived from the ancient Sanskrit word padmaraga which translates as ‘lotus colour’, a reference to the lotus blossoms found abundantly in the country.
