A Charming 18ct Gold and Gem Set Elephant Brooch

A charming gold elephant brooch by Hermès c.1960s, the three-dimensional brooch finely modelled in 18ct yellow gold as an elephant standing sideways and wearing a decorative blanket, all carefully textured to depict the elephant’s skin and woven fabric of the blanket which is embellished with a vertical row of alternating round cabochon sapphires and turquoises and small floral motif patterns in the gold, the eye set with a single faceted diamond, all to a single pin brooch fitting. This delightful elephant has been beautifully made with differing textures on its body, trunk and tusks which are highly polished thereby providing contrast to the rest of the piece. It is sure to prove a talking point when taken out and about on a shoulder or lapel.
