A Stylish Vintage Fantasy cut Amethyst and Diamond Ring in 18ct Gold

A stylish vintage fantasy cut amethyst and diamond ring by Grima 1971, centred with a fantasy cut amethyst of rectangular cushion shape set point to point up the finger and held on either side by a row of three single cut diamonds grain set within a platinum channel to an 18ct yellow gold mount with triangular profile and a heavily textured and patterned finish. This funky and fabulous ring is instantly recognisable as both 1970s and as Andrw Grima. Grima jewellery is characterised by the use of large, colourful, bold gemstones typically set within yellow gold organic forms using textured finishes. Gems such as fire opals, tourmalines or in this case an unusually faceted amethyst are often offset by a sprinkling of the more traditional gems such as diamonds. Angular forms and asymmetric design are hallmarks of his work, his shapes were as striking as his materials and he made jewellery that demanded attention. This wonderful ring is full of style and panache and makes a bold colourful statement.
