Van Cleef & Arpels

A Stylish Bombe Crossover Ring in Textured 18ct Gold

A stylish crossover dress ring by Van Cleef & Arpels c.1964, the textured 18ct gold with feather-like pattern and of double bombe form, each domed ended overlapping the other and then tapering elegantly down the shoulders to a plain band. This ring was part of the ‘la boutique’ collection of jewellery and was originally designed in the mid 1950s as evidenced by its design as well as contemporary advertising. The maker’s mark is for André Vassort, one of the leading French workshops of the period who many of the top Maisons used to make both stock items and special commissions. The ring has a lovely shape to it and the domed profile adds volume whilst the crossover twist and texture add visual interest. An easy to wear, everyday ring that looks as good today as when it was first designed.
