Retro 18ct Gold, Ruby and Diamond Stylised Flower Clip Brooch

A fabulous Retro gold and gem-set stylised flower brooch by Cartier c.1950, the five petalled flower formed of three-dimensional highly polished 18ct yellow gold petals each set with a single baguette diamond in rubover setting, partially overlaid with an oval ruby and all centred with a round ruby, the narrow tapering stem set with diamonds against a ribbon-like undulating scarf embellished with round brilliant and baguette cut diamonds, all to a double pin brooch fitting. The brooch has a wonderful sense of movement with the petals seeming to ripple in the breeze, the rubies are a beautiful rich, deeply saturated colour and well matched and the diamonds bright and lively, a super stylish brooch, quintessential of the period by one of the most iconic jewellery houses in the world.
