Kutchinsky

A Whimsical Gold and Onyx Rabbit Brooch With Emerald Eyes

A delightful gold and gem-set rabbit brooch by Kutchinsky 1969, the cartoonish rabbit finely modelled in textured 18ct yellow gold, the body formed of an oval cabochon of black onyx, the head in gold with onyx nose and emerald eyes, two comically large front teeth are protruding from a wide smile, prominent eyebrows are at a quizzical angle and the ears are windswept to one side, all to a single pin brooch fitting on the reverse. Kutchinsky is famous for the animal and bird brooches it created during the 1960s and 70s, from rabbits and dogs to lions and pelicans, all manner of creatures were imagined and made with wit and whimsy. This charming chap is full of personality and would make a definite talking point when pinned to a shoulder or lapel.
