Directors Notes
The story behind this iconic Hermès design dates back to 1938, when Robert Dumas, a member of the Hermès family was inspired by the shape of the links on a ship’s anchor. He designed a bracelet echoing these and christened it ‘Chaîne d’Ancre’. The bracelet was described by the Maison as a “naturally balanced jewel with a sporty yet chic allure” and they have been reinventing it ever since to form the basis of designs for necklaces, rings, earrings and of course bracelets. This is testament to the enduring appeal of the shape of these links, which are best appreciated in their original incarnation – as in this classic bracelet.
