Directors Notes

A jeweller’s jeweller, Georges Lenfant was not only a Cartier workmaster but also made jewellery for many of the top Parisian houses of the Place Vendome and rue de la Paix. The list is extensive and impressive and the Lenfant workshop could be described as the unsung heroes of 20th Century French jewellery.

When this bracelet was created Jacques Lenfant, Georges son, was leading the workshop and his name is synonymous with the gold chain work that has become instantly recognisable now as Lenfant. He was fascinated by the art of the goldsmith and this bracelet exhibits the distinctive gold mesh work that is instantly recognisable as Lenfant craftmanship.
