A Pair of Classic Gold and Diamond Star Earrings from the Comète Collection

A lovely pair of gold and diamond star earrings by Chanel c.2015 from the Comète Collection, each designed as an asymmetric five pointed star in 18ct yellow gold with a gently domed profile and pavé set throughout with round brilliant cut diamonds to clip fittings. When Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel launched her first and only fine jewellery collection in November 1932 she presented an extraordinary collection of fine diamond jewellery called ‘Bijoux de Diamants’ with designs focused around motifs that were meaningful to her such as stars, ribbons and fringes. Chanel said of the collection “I wanted to cover women in a constellation of stars. Stars of all sizes.” 90 years later the star remains an enduring motif of the Maison Chanel and the Comète fine jewellery collection honours that with myriad designs inspired by this celestial shape.
