A Vintage 18ct Gold and Diamond Rose Brooch

A beautiful 18ct yellow gold and diamond rose brooch by Cartier circa 1960s, designed as a highly three-dimensional sculptural single rose flower open and unfurled, each realistically modelled petal hand crafted from a sheet of highly polished 18ct yellow gold, the centre set with thirteen old cut diamonds claw set to the end of stamens, further stamens terminated in gold spheres, all to a single pin brooch fitting on the reverse. This wonderful large rose reflects the asymmetry and irregularity found in nature with each petal individually formed and showing variations in size, shape and curvature. The polished finish of the gold creates a bright surface which reflects the light beautifully, the diamonds are nicely matched for quality and the old cut shapes reflect again a naturalistic asymmetry. A perfect rose that is everlasting and not a thorn in sight.
