A Delightful Gold, Diamond and Emerald Duck Brooch

A charming gold and gem-set duck brooch by Cartier c.1960s, the body finely modelled in 18ct yellow gold with a textured finish and carefully formed feathers, the beak and feet in gold, the eye set with a marquise shaped emerald and the top of the head with a platinum stripe set with round brilliant cut diamonds, all to a double pin brooch fitting on the reverse. This delightful little duck is part of the menagerie of bird brooches that Cartier (and others) created during the 1950s and 60s. Beautifully made and with great attention to detail, it would make a lovely addition to any lapel or shoulder.
