A Classic 18ct Yellow Gold Spiga Necklace

A stylish gold Spiga necklace by Bulgari c.2000s, formed of closely set interlocking uniform links of zig-zag design, the front with seven evenly spaced wider zig-zag motifs, all in highly polished 18ct yellow gold to a concealed tongue and box clasp with safety catch. The necklace is beautifully flexible with a lovely weight and is very comfortable to wear. In 1880 a young Greek silversmith, Sotirios Boulgaris, arrived in Italy looking to build a new life. It didn’t take him long to establish himself and after a couple of false starts he opened his eponymous shop on Via Sistina in Rome in 1884.  He Italianised his name to Sotirio Bulgari and the firm that would eventually come to represent the very essence of ‘la dolce vita’ was born.
