A Magnificent Gold and Diamond Collar Necklace

A stunning gold and diamond bib necklace by Mario Buccellati, c.1960s, designed as a wide flat tapering row of openwork design exquisitely crafted in textured 18ct yellow gold with two zig zag shaped bands interspersed with round brilliant cut diamonds in a central row of vertical lozenge-shaped motifs and two outer rows of triangular shaped motifs, all to a concealed tongue and box clasp. The necklace is very finely articulated which creates an almost fabric-like feel to the piece with incredible suppleness and fluidity. It has a lovely weight to it and drapes elegantly around the neck. The diamonds are of high quality and well matched and with four hundred and sixty three stones, all those individual facets reflect and disperse the light beautifully, guaranteeing a supremely sparkling effect.
