A Delightful Gold and Gem Set Artist Mouse Brooch

A delightful gold and gem-set mouse brooch ‘Are you Manet or Mouse?!’ by E. Wolfe & Co. 1990, the finely modelled three-dimensional standing mouse, anthropomorphised as an artist, in 18ct yellow gold textured to resemble fur, wearing a gold jacket with two cabochon ruby buttons and a jaunty white gold neckerchief set with diamonds tied round his neck, holding an artist’s palette in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, the palette with five paints on it, each depicted by a bezel set diamond, ruby, sapphire or emerald and the brush with fine black bristles, his eye set with a sapphire and his inner ear pavé set with round brilliant cut diamonds, to a single pin fitting on the reverse. This totally charming piece is full of personality and wit and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of animal jewels.
