This style of ‘cut-down’ setting was popular in the Georgian period when the diamond would be set in silver (white gold and platinum were not in use at this time) and then backed with yellow gold. In our ring we have used black rhodium plated platinum to give a similar appearance whilst retaining the superior qualities of hardness and stability provided by this precious metal. This style of ring has never lost its charm or appeal and here at Hancocks we have been making them for over 150 years.
