Directors Notes
The Albert chain is said to have been named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort who was said to be particularly partial to this style of watch chain. The T-bar would have been worn attached through the buttonhole of the waistcoat. Today usually worn as a necklace, this style is incredibly popular and many would consider an essential for a jewellery box. Finding an antique Albert chain in 18ct gold is more unusual in itself but adding the alternating colours and the original antique invoice make this quite a rare example of this timeless design.
