An Antique French 18ct Gold Bangle with Double Eagle Heads

An antique French gold eagle head bangle c.1890s, designed as a solid bangle in 18ct yellow gold with rounded profile and small opening, each end terminated by a finely modelled eagle head with hooked beak, hooded eyes and layered feather details over the head and neck, all with a matte, finely hammered textured appearance, linked to the bangle by a wrap of gold rope twist. The eagle was held to symbolise strength and courage amongst other positive attributes as well as being the king of the sky. The bangle is a generous size and easy to slip on and off, it works well worn alone or with other bangles/ bracelets. It has a lovely patina commensurate with age and the fine texture of the heads contrasts with the more polished finish of the body of the bangle. A lovely wearable piece of antique jewellery.
