An Elegant Diamond and Gold Necklace of Tapering Pear Shape Motifs

An elegant gold and diamond necklace by Cartier c.1970s, designed as a continuous row of pear shaped motifs set on the diagonal in 18ct yellow gold tapering from smaller at the back to larger at the front, the centre section is interspersed with alternating motifs in 18ct white gold and pavé set with round brilliant cut diamonds, all to a concealed tongue and box clasp. The necklace has been finely articulated and consequently sits beautifully around the base of the neck. The diamonds are high quality and well matched the slanted set of the motifs adds visual interest to the piece. This is the sort of versatile vintage jewel that could be worn as easily with a white shirt as it could a little black dress.
