Van Cleef & Arpels

A Vintage Diamond Sautoir Necklace with Detachable Bracelet

A beautiful vintage diamond sautoir necklace/ bracelet by Van Cleef & Arpels, c.1970s, the long necklace formed of repeating motifs of three round brilliant cut diamonds in claw settings within a twisted wirework navette shaped frame between two larger round brilliant cut diamonds in claw settings within a round frame, this three part motif repeats regularly around the necklace linked by runs of smaller round brilliant diamonds set in the same way, all to a concealed tongue and box clasp with safety. Part of this long necklace is detachable to form a bracelet and shorter necklace making it a very versatile piece that can be worn day and evening. The diamonds are well matched and set in raised claw settings to allow plenty of light into the stones ensuring they sparkle well whilst the twisted frames help create the illusion of larger stones.
