A Stylish Pair of Vintage Gold, Diamond and Lapis Lazuli Earrings

A stylish pair of lapis lazuli and diamond clip earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels c.1980s, each wide tapering hoop with domed profile in 18ct yellow gold inlaid to the front with a cut and polished piece of lapis lazuli inset with four gold circles of differing sizes, the smallest two both set with four round brilliant cut diamonds, the middle size with six and the largest with seven, totalling twenty one diamonds in each earing, the top edge is angled outwards up the ear and away from the face with the hinge for the clip fitting at the narrower end. The lapis in these earrings is a wonderfully even deep rich blue with very little veining or pyrite inclusions. The diamonds are of high quality, are well matched, bright and lively and are reminiscent of stars twinkling in the night sky. Quintessentially 80s in style, these earrings are a colourful, bold and fun design.
