A Striking Diamond and Onyx Dress Ring by Van Cleef & Arpels

A striking diamond and onyx dress ring by Van Cleef & Arpels c.1970s, made in 18ct yellow gold, the centre set horizontally with two tapered rectangular pieces of carved domed polished black onyx framed by a channel set row of round brilliant cut diamonds and bisected vertically with a barrel shaped panel of diamonds, the band tapering smoothly from front to back. This stylish ring is typical of the period, the opaque black of the onyx contrasting with the bright white sparkle of the diamonds, all set off by the warmth of yellow gold.
