A pair of gold and ancient coin ‘Monete’ earrings by Bulgari c.1970s, the disc shape earrings set with a matched pair of decorative bronze coins from ancient Persia featuring the stylised head of a man within a rounded 18ct yellow gold frame, to post and clip fittings. The reverse of the gold frame settings are engraved with the following UMAR-IBN AL-ALA 738 d.C. DRAMMA PERSIA DINASTIA DEI SASSANIDI. Part of the iconic Bulgari Monete collection these earrings are both vintage and ancient and look very striking worn.

In 1880 a young Greek silversmith, Sotirios Boulgaris, arrived in Italy looking to build a new life. It didn’t take him long to establish himself and after a couple of false starts he opened his eponymous shop on Via Sistina in Rome in 1884.
