Wonderful Antique Gold Long Chain With Turquoise Clasp

A wonderful Georgian 18ct gold long chain c.1830, composed of twenty elongated openwork cage links with five uniform sides formed of overlapping circle motifs, joined by sections of chain link with both hammered and plain polished links and a single larger central link to each section with a beaded background and polished foliate motif winding around it, all to beautiful four sided barrel tongue and box clasp, set with four tapering rows of turquoise cabochons. A quintessential item of Georgian jewellery this necklace is in super condition and the variation of styles and finishes within the links as well as the lovely original clasp make it a truly special example of its type. At almost two hundred years it old it is a beautifully decorative and highly wearable piece of history.
