An Elegant 18ct Yellow Gold ‘Mesh’ Bib Necklace by Elsa Peretti

A beautiful 18ct yellow gold ‘Mesh’ necklace by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. 2000, the necklace of V-shaped bib design is made of very fine chain links and is superbly fluid and silk like, draping sensuously around the neck. There is no clasp, it simply ties at the back – or perhaps the side – and can therefore be worn shorter or longer depending on preference or mood. Originally designed in the mid 1970s for a Halston fashion show, Mesh remains one of Peretti’s most iconic and instantly recognisable designs, synonymous with the easy to wear glamour of the period. The pieces are endlessly tactile and feel beautiful against the skin. The design has enduring appeal and over the years the collection has grown to include bracelets, earrings and pendants. Almost 50 years after it was originally designed modern women such as the Duchess of Cambridge and Jennifer Lawrence are wearing pieces from the collection, and it feels as contemporary now as it did then.
