Directors Notes

Tokens of love and sentiment feature prominently in jewellery dating back to the medieval period, but it was during the 19th century that the heart motif became highly prominent. The Victorian’s were hugely fond of heart shaped jewels, no doubt influenced by Queen Victoria’s fondness for the shape and this carried through in to the 20th century. It is a motif that remains beloved by many and this pretty pendant is a particularly beautiful representation of it. The ruby in the centre is a wonderful deep colour and rubies have long been associated with passion. This is surrounded by diamonds which represent everlasting love due to their supreme durability so we have three symbols of love in one romantic jewel.
