Drayson, London was founded by Cecil Drayson in 1936 and located in prestigious Bond Street, London. His jewels were renowned for their high quality, innovative designs and extremely elegant nature. Drayson initially derived inspiration from the Art Deco period, but from the late thirties to the sixties the designs became more abstract, exemplifying the bold sculptural influence of the period. Jewels from Drayson have become extremely rare.
In 2008 a generous benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, approached the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) in Melbourne, Australia, with a magnificent collection of Drayson jewels that belonged to his late mother. She had taken great pleasure in the wearing, acquisition and design of many of the pieces over forty years between the 1930s and 1960s, crossing continents between London and Johannesburg.
