A big red, white and blue hearty mess of rings! We’ve got an unheated Burmese sapphire set with beautiful old mine cut diamonds, a spectacular antique heart shape diamond solitaire and a stunning unheated Burma ruby set with half moon diamonds. Each one a treasure!
This wonderful antique gold, emerald, ruby and pearl brooch is by Wièse c.1890. The design shows the influence of both archaeological revival and renaissance styles and as was common for Wièse, the gems are set using antique-inspired methods. Louis Wièse was also known to use mercury oxide to distress the surface of metal, further enhancing the ‘aged’ appearance of his jewels. The colour and patina of this wonderful jewel would suggest that this technique may have been employed here and it has a hammered and hand-worked appearance, particularly evident on the back.
If you’re looking for a fun and fabulous vintage cocktail/dress ring we have some great new contenders just added to the website. Made by some of the best jewellery houses of the 20th Century, from top left we have Kutchinsky, Bulgari, VCA and Jensen. More photos, full details and prices are all available to view on our website.
This is such a lovely classic design. A beautiful oval Ceylon sapphire weighing 5.84cts is claw set within a round brilliant cut diamond cluster surround in partial rub over setting creating a pretty scalloped edge.
In need of a little hump day lift? These 1950s Bulgari ‘door knocker’ style earrings ought to do the trick, the very essence of ‘la dolce vita’! ✨ Did you know - when Sotirio Bulgari opened his store on the Via dei Condotti in Rome at the beginning of the 20th century he called it the ‘Old Curiosity Shop’. Taken from the novel by Dickens, it was a shrewd attempt to attract the English and American tourists who flocked to Rome.
You just have to love a lovely antique pear shape diamond. Bucking the trend for most antique diamonds, these old cut diamonds usually spread larger than their modern counterparts. They’re magical stones.
New arrival! 🎉 This wonderful vintage gold dress ring by Georg Jensen c.1960 was designed by renowned designers Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel. The ring has a distinctive asymmetrical form with a wide curved ridge to the front, one end pointed and the other rounded, tapering smoothly down to the band at the back. It has a strong sculptural quality to it and can be worn with the point facing either up or down with the highly polished gold creating a beautifully reflective finish.
For the love of Lenfant! This beautiful gold, ruby and diamond bracelet was made by Georges Lenfant c.1965. It’s designed as a straight strap of matte textured 18ct yellow gold edged with polished gold ‘stiches’ and applied around the centre with six ruby and diamond flowerhead clusters. The matte gold is offset by the polished edges and the ruby clusters add some colour and sparkle whilst not detracting from the texture and finish of the gold work which is of course, what we know and love Lenfant for.
A little video this afternoon to show off the beautiful bluish adularescence in our moonstone ring. The fine quality moonstone weighs 16.64cts and is carved with the figure of Apollo, it is set within a surround of old European brilliant cut diamonds with bullet-cut diamond shoulders, all to a handmade platinum mount.
Sometimes one just doesn’t cut the mustard so five should do it. Five lovely old European brilliant cut diamonds doing what they do best.
A beautiful cushion shaped rose cut diamond like this deserved only the very prettiest of settings. So we surrounded her with a halo of round brilliant diamonds set with a delicate millegrain edge, scattered diamonds down her shoulders and hand engraved her mount with ornate scrollwork motifs. I hope you’ll agree she’s an absolute beauty!
