Abraham-Louis Breguet
1747 Abraham-Louis Breguet was born inin Neuchatel, Switzerland
1775 He founded his first shop on the Ile de la Cité in Paris. He was providing his timepieces to such historical figures as Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette and Napoleon I. He was known to all the European courts, as well as being the watchmaker of reference for the diplomatic, scientific, military and financial elites.
The firm remained in the hands of the Breguet family until the workshop foreman, Edward Brown took control. For the next 100 years, the firm passed down through three generations of his family.
