Literature
A very similar example can be seen in 'Understanding Jewellery' by David Bennett and Daniela Mascetti page 124, and also in 'The power of Jewellery' Nancy Schiffer, pp. 205. These pendants are dated c.1850 and are described as being of 'sentimental' design - a subject that was popular at the time. Ours is later, however, the inspiration would be similar.
