Directors Notes
The Parisian jewellery house of Dusausoy was a small discreet company founded in 1880 with a salon in the Boulevard des Capucines. Jean and Justin Dusausoy, together with Madeleine Chazel, exhibited some remarkable jewellery at the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1925. Additionally, on the occasion of the 1929 Musée Galliera exhibition of decorative arts, Dusausoy, Vever and Henry d’Allemagne organised a retrospective of ‘La Parure de la Femme il y a cent ans’ in order to show just how far jewellery design had come. Dusuasoy exhibited again at the Exposition Coloniale in 1931 and the World Fair in New York in 1939 showing their Art Deco creations of exceptionally high quality and stylish design, with emphasis upon abstract geometric shapes and the strong lines of cubism. Unfortunately, these jewels were produced in such limited quantities that their pieces are now rarely seen. Dusausoy closed its doors in 1980
