Directors Notes
Archaeological Revival jewels such as this became popular in the 1860's following major discoveries of Etruscan artefacts throughout the early to mid-nineteenth century. The Etruscans used minute detailing in their jewellery which they created using fine granulation and filigree techniques that were extremely difficult for the Victorian jeweller to recapture. This bangle is a fantastic example of the kind of intricate gold-work required to emulate the style of the Etruscan jewel.
